Listened 4 or 5 times through now. There’s a couple good songs on here but the album as a whole is generic. I wish they would’ve gone a little deeper in the writing process. The riffs are simple; song structures are predictable; melodies aren’t as catchy. All in all a very mainstream, radio friendly album.

I LOVE Palisades’ 2017 self-titled album. It’s among my favorite albums of all time which means a lot. Erase the Pain falls short of their self-titled album, but Erase the Pain is still a 5 star album. Every song was catchy and memorable on Palisades. How can you top a perfect album? It’s very difficult and I think Palisades did a great job with Erase the Pain. Architects had the same challenge after All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us. You can’t beat perfection, but coming close to perfection a second time is no easy feat. Both of these bands released strong follow-ups.

I thought they really found themselves with the sound of their self-titled album. This definitely takes that sound and pushes it into heavier and darker territory with more emphasis on the instruments and less on the electronic effects. Solid from top to bottom. “Vendetta” is my immediate favorite.

This does no doubt sound pretty promising so far and I’m pretty confident the rest of the album will be unique as well in a good way. The thing I gotta do is question a person reviewing an album that has not even been fully released... I realize my hypocrisy in writing a review of said nature but I really only do so to express an opinion. Blindly loving something you have a very limited knowledge of is not the same as loving the music. The amount of people I see pre-reviewing, whether it be negative or positive posts, make me have to ask: Are you sure you actually like/love the music you’re hearing or are you obsessed solely based on the idea of liking bands of this nature makes you “edgy” and so “unique” or non-mainstream. Cause that’s terrible... listen to the entire album. Don’t stream it....buy it and listen to all of it not just the highest rated or most listened to. The best songs are the ones you never hear. Not cause it’s “cool” to not like popular but because ditching that blind faith makes it so much sweeter when you hear that song that can define a moment so perfect it won’t matter deep down if it was the single from the album or some song in the middle no one seems to like. Be honest. I know I feel the eyes rolling through my phone but it’s just my opinion.(Edit Add) Not bad but I’m not to keen on the lyrics of some of the songs. Little sophomoric less personal feeling I guess. If only this album’s sound and Mind Games could meld it would be a perfect union.
