As a life long NIN fan, these last 3 are lacking. "Less Than" and "God Break Down the Door" are great. The rest? Not so much at all. Too Much experimental instrumentals reminiscent of Ghosts. For the record, Broken, The Fragile and Year Zero are my favorites. This feels more like The Social Network soundtrack heavily distorted, with too many overlapping layers of complexity, with Trent's voice peeking out of all of the distortion. I don't need a Gone Girl remix.

This album is gar bage. Good lord Trent in times like these we need u to pick up the mantel and rock!!🤘🏻 very few rock bands left that actually make good music. I haven’t lost faith in Trent yet but this album sounds like someone through a microphone in a toilet and sang to the swirling sounds of dung. COME ON TRENT NEXT ALBUM NEEDS TO ROCK!!!
As a long time listener of Nine Inch Nails, I have to say that this album is horrible. He has gone of the reservation with this one as well as a few of his previous releases. This isn't the Nine Inch Nails that we know and love.
Let's face it.

Trent will always be in Slam Bamboo, and that's engraved in his DNA. Just because you resonated with his angry phase doesn't mean he's somehow beholden to your arrested development standards. Artists will evolve their music, coming up with newer and creative ways to strike the emotional cords of their fan base. This album is no different, it compares to no one, unlike what some have alluded to here. Just be glad you're getting a steady, and often different streams of music versus having to wait over a decade (I'm looking in your direction, Tool) before a new album is released out...
Some of their best work
I’m surprised with all the bad reviews. I guess some folks just can’t except the fact that artists progress over time. These last three NIN releases are as good as anything they’ve ever done. Bad Witch, Add Violence and Not the Actual Events are up there with Downward Spiral for me. Bad Witch is definitely the most experimental of the three. It almost has a Coil vibe to it which shouldn’t be too surprising since Coil is one of Trent Reznor’s biggest influences. I just love the experimentation on this record. NIN is back in a big way.
Over time I’ve tried to avoid falling into the nostalgia trap. Most of artists I listened to from the 90s are either deceased or in a completely different phase of life. With that, I’ve tried to keep an open mind when listening to the few musicians left who are still forging ahead. NIN definitely requires the same frame of thought when listening to their music. From With Teeth on, Trent’s music definitely took some different directions. He still tried to push creative boundaries while still keeping things dark and interesting. Hesitation Marks I believe was one of the last true to form records, touching on some of the elements predating With Teeth. After Hesitation Marks, there began the succession of these EP’s that have had mixed reviews. The last few I still kept to some kind of theme, and the music did change from each smaller release, almost creating some kind of progression. Like I said, you have to appreciate these releases for what they are. Trent is sober and no longer Haring the word, and we just need to except that.
Now for this last release...Bad Witch. There are some interesting elements, yet the main source of contention for me is lack of cohesion. Even within the songs themselves, NIN start to randomly channel Bowie or Radiohead...and not in a good way. For NIN standards, even in their twilight years, I have a hard time giving this one a pass.
My last thought is that if this is the worst after 30 years of revolutionary work, I can live with it. Let’s just hope NIN will end on a good note. Even Bowie had a few so-so albums, but at least he made the final bookend a great one.
Amazing, The Best! Buy it!

I LOVE this EP!!
The first Not The Actual Events in 2016, the second Add Violence in 2017 and this genius work of art Bad Witch in 2018! Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross- extreme talent never dies! All of this is amazing! Over and Out is my favorite. Please keep making more Nine Inch Nails records, EP’s, tracks, anything! I’ll keep buying it! Much love and thanks for all of your guys’ work!
Trent...you’ve given us so much. I just wish you hadn’t given us this.
Ok so I gave it another chance
I listened to some rawer Nin before diving into this one (With Teeth.) Wow this is really good. Trent is broadening his scope with what he can do with music. In particular the last two tracks on this ep is some of the best nien inch nails I have heard in a long while.
The final release of the trilogy is the most cohesive and and imo the best work NIN has put out since Year Zero
